Starting from a complete beginner
For the first two lessons a minimum time of 2 hours is recommended but allow a little extra time in order to drive to a suitable area (no charge is made for this extra time) Once up and running most lessons will be spent in the area that the test is to be taken. Practice will be taken over the test routes in that area. During teaching a track record of the various driving disciplines is kept (marks progressing from 1 to 5). A mock test will be offered prior to the driving test.
Partly trained driver
An initial driving assessment is made as to the level that the pupil is currently at. From then on a track record is kept showing progress made until at test level.
Refresher courses
Any driving discipline can be refreshed whether it is approaches to roundabouts, parking in the high street or multi storey car park or just general driving in order to rebuild confidence (either after a long lay off or perhaps an accident).
Motorway lessons
Dual carriageway work encountered in passing a test is hardly preparation for driving on a busy motorway in the rush hour. So Motorway lessons can be structured in quiet or busy times, day or night time according to the pupils requirements.
Pass Plus lessons
Pass plus is a training scheme designed by the DSA, with the help of the motor insurance and driving instruction industries. There are six modules covering Town Driving, All Weather Driving, Out of Town and Rural Driving, Night Driving, Dual Carriageways and Motorways. A minimum of six hours tuition is required in order to obtain the Pass Plus certificate. Once obtained this can lead to discounts on Motor Insurance Policies.
